Videos and photos of the so-called “Portland Frog” quickly spread across platforms, making the green-suited protester a viral sensation. The image of the frog standing calmly before law enforcement became one of the defining visuals of the protest.
Why the Frog Costume?
The protester said the costume was a way to protest peacefully and with humor. Several reports later identified the person as a self-described “proud ANTIFA terrorist.”
“It’s a strategy to challenge the Trump administration’s narrative,” the protester told Le Monde. “They claim we’re violent. We’re not—we’re protesting with humor.”

“It’s hard for them to call us dangerous when one of us is in a chicken suit,” Dickinson said. “We’re just showing how exaggerated their claims are.”
