Cristiano Ronaldo fired a hat-trick as Al-Nassr eased past Rio Ave in a pre-season friendly at Estadio do Algarve. New signing Joao Felix also caught the eye with an energetic display.
Ronaldo Picks Up Where He Left Off
Fresh from scoring 25 goals to win last season’s Saudi Pro League Golden Boot, Ronaldo showed no signs of slowing down. The 40-year-old struck three times and led the attack with authority.
Early Lead Through Simakan
Al-Nassr went ahead in the 15th minute. Joao Felix rose to meet a cross and headed it down for Mohamed Simakan, who calmly guided the ball past Cezary Miszta.
First Goal for Ronaldo
Just before half-time, Ronaldo doubled the lead. A slick one-two with Felix inside the box opened space, and Ronaldo powered the ball in at the near post.
Missed Penalty, Quick Redemption
In the 63rd minute, Nelson Abbey handled the ball in the area. Ronaldo handed penalty duties to Sadio Mané, but Miszta saved easily. Only 16 seconds later, Ronaldo made amends, heading home to make it 3–0.
Hat-Trick Sealed from the Spot
Five minutes later, Felix was fouled by Abbey. This time, Ronaldo took the penalty himself and dispatched it with precision to complete his hat-trick.
Data Debrief: Vintage Ronaldo, Promising Felix
Ronaldo topped the team in shots (6) and shots on target (5) while posting an xG of 1.34 from Al-Nassr’s total of 2.9.
Felix also impressed in his second start. He created the most chances (3), played the most passes into the final third (25), and contested the most duels (12) of any player on the pitch.
