Cena Reaches a Career Milestone
Seventeen-time WWE Champion John Cena achieved a major milestone by earning his 100th Premium Live Event (PLE) win after defeating AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel 2025 in Perth on Saturday.
The thrilling match wasn’t just a battle between two icons — it was also a heartfelt tribute to WWE’s history. From start to finish, Cena turned the ring into a stage for nostalgia and respect.
A Match Filled With Homage
From the opening bell, both stars honored their wrestling heroes. Cena delivered The Miz’s Skull Crushing Finale and Bray Wyatt’s Sister Abigail, sparking an emotional “firefly” tribute that illuminated the entire arena.
Afterward, he executed a draping DDT, an RKO, and even Chris Jericho’s Walls of Jericho, sending fans into an ecstatic roar. Commentator Wade Barrett described the scene perfectly, saying it was “like creating a video game character and spamming everyone’s finisher for fun.”
Meanwhile, AJ Styles answered with tributes of his own. He attempted Shawn Michaels’ Sweet Chin Music, which nearly secured him the victory. However, Cena kicked out at two, refusing to let the story end there.
Cena Finishes Strong
As the intensity reached its peak, Cena delivered a Tombstone Piledriver in tribute to The Undertaker. Moments later, he sealed the win with a final Attitude Adjustment.
The referee’s three-count confirmed his victory, and the crowd erupted in celebration. Cena stood tall, visibly emotional, as fans cheered the legendary performer who had given them two decades of memories.
A Victory for the Ages
With this triumph, Cena became the first superstar from the Ruthless Aggression Era to record 100 PLE wins. Moreover, he joined an elite list of WWE icons. The Undertaker leads with 107 victories, followed by Cena, Triple H with 92, and Randy Orton with 81.
Since debuting in 2002, Cena has consistently represented the heart of WWE. He already holds a record 17 world championships, and this achievement further strengthens his legacy as one of the greatest ever.
The Final Chapter Begins
Now, Cena prepares to close his historic career on his own terms. According to WWE, he will return on the November 10 episode of Raw in Boston. Then, he’ll appear on his final Raw on November 17 at Madison Square Garden.
Finally, he will wrestle his last PLE match at Survivor Series on November 29, before officially retiring at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
Even as Cena’s in-ring career ends, his influence and inspiration will undoubtedly continue to shape WWE’s next generation of stars.
